Arun Asthana, Executive Director
Mr. Arun is a communication professional, creative writer, social entrepreneur and strategist. He started his career as a print journalist from culturally rich and politically vibrant city of Lucknow. Later he spent more than 11 years at senior editorial, creative and corporate positions at brands like BBC World, Star News and Tata Teleservices. Arun helped the launch and operations of around a dozen TV channels and two digital media ventures as consultant and entrepreneur in India, Pakistan & Bangladesh. A Published author and filmmaker Arun has been nurturing a deep urge of being at social sector since long as he wanted to use his experience, exposure and strategic thinking to make this world a bit more livable.
Beroz Gazdar, Senior Associate
Beroz is a Commerce graduate, an Associate Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi and holds a Diploma in Sustainability & CSR from the Swedish Institute of Management. She has a vast corporate work experience of over 35 years in various organizations like Standard Chartered Bank, the Tata Group, the Zee Group and the Mahindra Group. Besides having corporate experience in Finance, Legal and Commercial aspects of business, over the last 8 years, she branched out into the Sustainability domain, mainstreaming non-financial aspects of business in strategy, management and operations. As a ‘Sustainability practitioner’ Beroz has a clear understanding of Corporate Sustainability Management across various sectors and functions. This includes creating policies, processes and monitoring frameworks for Environmental, Social and Governance parameters, to enable voluntary disclosures, and defining action plans for mitigating risks arising from climate change and related business externalities.
Meera Mitra, Senior Associate
Meera Mitra has a PhD from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. She is a Sociologist and Development Specialist. Dr. Mitra has been in academics and development consultancy in India and the U.S. She began her career teaching at JMC (Delhi University). She also held teaching positions at Franklin & Marshall College USA and Millersville University. Dr. Mitra directed several social development implementation projects across India. She served on two BIS panels (Social Accountability Standards and Good Governance standards). She has authored reports, journal and newspaper articles.
Her books: ‘It’s Only Business: India’s Corporate Social Responsiveness in a Globalised World’ Oxford University Press 2009 and ‘BREAKING THROUGH: India’s Stories of Beating the Odds on POVERTY’ (2015 Rupa).
Dinesh Agrawal, Senior Associate
With more than 39 years of PSU experience in the areas of Governance, Business Responsibility, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Resettlement & Rehabilitation Dinesh has special interest in Institutional Strengthening, Stakeholder engagement, negotiation & conflict resolution, Social & Environmental Impact Assessment, Socio Economic and Need Assessment Survey, training and capacity building. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from GB Pant University and undergone Leadership Programme at IIM, Lucknow, LEAD International, UK and ICH, Norway, he provided leadership for formulating Standards on “Social Accountability at Work Place” & “Guidance on Good Governance” for Bureau of Indian Standard, “National Voluntary Guidelines on Economic, Social and Environmental Responsibilities of Business” and “National Policy on Rehabilitation & Resettlement” for Government of India. Dinesh is a trainer delivering programmes at management schools, academic institutes, NSE-Academy, IICA, LEAD India and many PSU and a LEAD fellow, Member of various Committees of CII and Bureau of Indian Standards, Advisory Board of Alliance for Integrity, Global Compact India Network etc. He was awarded “100 most impactful CSR leaders” by World CSR Day.
Donia Benmiloud, Associate
Donia has 15 years of experience in providing strategic and technical expertise in Private sector and Market systems development, as well as Business environment improvement in various countries of Africa and Asia. She has a track record in: 1. Building sustainable business linkages between large corporates and Small and Medium businesses in selected value chains (agriculture and food processing, technology innovations, mining, tourism/hospitality, etc.). This was done through a combination of brokering and performance capacity strengthening in the aim of addressing market failures (mismatch between large buyers’ expectations and local small business ability to deliver the expected product/service); 2. Facilitating public private partnerships to promote regular dialogue between the private sector (demand side/buyers) and the Government. This was done with the aim of enhancing local sourcing and advocating for business policies that would enable local procurement and supplier development, in combination with financial institutions, para-statal bodies (Business Development agencies, Bureaus of standards, etc.), business incubators, and Chambers of commerce and Industry; 3. Designing and supporting the implementation of projects falling under Corporate Social Responsibility portfolio of large companies; and 4. Delivering Business Development Services to small businesses. Prior to joining CRB, Donia was the Business Linkages Manager, Deputy Team Leader and Team Leader of a $18m DFID-funded project in Zambia, the Private Enterprise Programme Zambia including 4 components: an Accelerator Fund, a Start-Up Competition component, a Business Development Services component and a Business Linkages component looking at Local procurement and supplier development in a selection of priority value chains.
Madhuri Nanda, Associate
With an academic background in Botany and Environment Management, Madhuri has spent 15 years working as an environment and sustainability professional, across consultancy firm, corporate entities, a research institution and an auditing firm (for climate change projects) in Germany. During this period, Madhuri worked in various environmental areas including Climate change policy, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) under Kyoto Protocol, sustainability management and reporting based on Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) guidelines, Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), legal compliances and Integrated Management Systems (IMS) certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000). Currently, Madhuri is enrolled for a part-time PhD program with the TERI University, researching on sustainable agriculture practices for India. Madhuri loves reading books, listening to music and traveling.
Divya Jyoti, Advisor
Divya is a passionate Sustainability and CSR professional with rich experience in the Textile and Apparel sector sustainability issues. Divya works across industry sectors and engages in promoting uptake of responsible business policies and practices across value chains. Divya steers the strategic direction of CRB and has been responsible for conceptualizing and developing the global portfolio of CRB’s services, programmes and partnerships as a member of the founding leadership team at CRB. Divya is a graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi and a post graduate in Social Responsibility and Sustainability from Aston Business School, UK.
Rijit Senguta, Chief Operating Officer
Rijit Sengupta, hold a Post graduate degree in Agriculture from University of Calcutta, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Systems Management (specializing in Environment Management) from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISW&BM), Calcutta. He is an Alumni of the United Nations University (Tokyo) program on International Cooperation and Development. He has experience of over sixteen years in various areas of Sustainable Development policy and practice.
Ravi Raj Atrey, Senior Manager
Ravi Raj Atrey is an emerging Social Development and Corporate Social Responsibility leader in India. Working and strategizing responsible business and structural social reforms are passions for Ravi. His span of 14 years’ experience includes working with the National Government, International and National Civil Society Organizations, Social Development and CSR Consulting Firms. As a Consultant, he has worked on varied projects with the Government of India’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Rural Development, and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He is an expert in Impact evaluations of the developmental and CSR projects and has been involved with key corporate houses/MNCs, International Civil Society organizations and reputed Consulting Firms. He had multi-disciplinary education in International Laws and Diplomacy, Human Rights, Social Work, Business Administration, and Economics at Masters, UGC-NET in Social-Work and Certified in Management Consulting, his doctoral research is on effectiveness of corporate social responsibility initiatives in India. He has authored the books ‘Exploring CSR’ and co-authored in ‘CSR and Competitiveness’.
Ria Sinha, Research Fellow
Ria Sinha has a PhD in Business Sustainability from TERI School of Advanced Studies (SAS), New Delhi, India, studying the interface between Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) issues and business with special reference to the Indian corporate sector. With a bachelors and masters in Economics from Calcutta University, she has more than seven years of experience in the domain of Business Sustainability with research interests in Socially Responsible Investing, ESG Investing, Sustainability Financing and related areas. In CRB she is employed as a Research Fellow and continues to strengthen the research vertical of the organization. At present she is focusing on the role of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) and developing the business case for SDG’s. Dr. Sinha has presented papers in international conferences including Vienna, Berlin and Boston and has published her research work in peer-reviewed journals such as AIMS International Journal of Management, Indian Accounting review and Critical Perspectives on International Business . She is also actively engaged as a guest faculty at TERI SAS and has previously worked in reputed organizations like Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability and TERI SAS.
Sohini Gupta, Project Manager
Sohini has been working in the sustainability domain for the past 7 years with expertise in areas like sustainable consumption and production, life cycle assessment & management (LCA/M), capability maturity models (Life Cycle Management-LCM, Zero Defect Zero Effect-ZED), climate change mitigation, and carbon markets. She has extensively worked with UN Environment. Previously, she has worked with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Ms. Sohini has completed her B.Sc (Hons) Zoology from Miranda House, University of Delhi and MSc. Natural Resources Management from TERI University, New Delhi.
Ankur Rustogi, Manager Accounts & Finance
Mr. Ankur Rustogi has recently joined our Team as Manager – Accounts & Finance. He has an experience of more than 5 years in the field of Accounts & Finance with an expertise in areas like Tax Planning, Finalising Balance Sheets, Cash Flows Projections etc. He has worked with companies like Amrapali Group, D’Gipro Systems Private Limited, Clutch Auto Ltd etc.. He is a commerce graduate from Delhi University and also cleared CA – Intermediate from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has also done 3 years and 6 months articleship training from VADS & Co. ( A Chartered Accountant Firm in Delhi).
Richa Prasad, Programme Officer
Richa Prasad assists as a Programme Office in Centre for Responsible Business. Prior joining in June, 2017, Richa has worked with TERI University as a Project Assistant. She has also worked as Research Associate in Indian Pollution Control Association. Her past experience includes research, organising capacity building and knowledge dissemination workshops and project implementation, assessment and evaluation in waste management and air pollution sector. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies & Resource Management, from TERI University and Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Hons.) from Gargi College, Delhi University.
Margaret Francis, Project Coordinator
Margaret has about 12 years of experience in customer care with her last role being a GHG Support Executive in the Climate Change department. She has completed her PGDBA in Public Relations from Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, and her areas of interest, in her own words, are travelling, reading and most importantly her spirituality which keeps her grounded in all walks of life.
